SUMMER IS COMING! DOES SUMMER TIME = BREAK TIME?
Many times, parents consider taking their children out of Martial Arts training for the summer. Maybe you just want to give them a break, or perhaps your child is in camp all day and you think he or she will be too tired. Maybe you have plans on taking lots of day trips or just lounging at the pool and don’t want to be committed to a schedule. After all, that's what the summer is about right?
We recognize these challenges and have come up with several ways to address them:
#1. As always, we will be offering a full class schedule (20+ classes). This will allow our students the opportunity to get in for classes and maintain their progress for the next testing.
#2. We ease up a little bit with the strictness of class, making Martial Arts one of the most fun parts of the day. Frozen Treat Days, T-Shirt & Shorts Days, Summer Prize Raffles, Surprise Days, and more will all be a part of summer 2018. Again, our objective is to make class as fun as we can, while teaching quality martial arts.
#3. We will be more flexible with attendance requirements. As long as students maintain an AVERAGE of 2x a week they will be able to progress through stripe and belt testing normally.
#4. Summer T-Shirts, ceiling fans and air conditioning will keep our students nice and cool this summer. Training time can be a nice break from the heat and sun a few times a week.
#5. One of the biggest challenges students have with at-home training is the lack of knowing exactly what to do. To solve this challenge, we have put together planners that make at-home training not only easy to follow, but also fun to practice.
#6. Booster Camps! Our summer booster camps (not to be confused with our summer day camp) are for those students that are going to be inconsistent over the summer due to vacation or other commitments. Each 90-minute intensive camp will cover all the curriculum for our July / August cycle and will be worth 4 class credits. This will allow students to stay on track for stripe & belt testing goals. These camp days will be available FREE OF CHARGE for our students. Dates for camp are listed below.
Consider this...
Child Psychologists report that children who maintain some sense of a structured activity during the summer, like Martial Arts, do better in the initial months of the new academic school year. They report that many parents make a mistake in allowing their children to be free of responsibilities, and are often frustrated when September comes around and their children don’t exactly embrace school.
Martial Arts training through the summer reinforces a time commitment, necessity to practice, reminds students to follow through, has a uniform, has authority figures, etc. So when school comes around, it isn’t that much different. Of course kids should have a blast for their summer, and it is for this reason we will be offering super fun class options 4x per week. This way you don’t have to commit to any one in particular. After all, we are only talking about less than 2 hours a week!
We recognize that some of our families vacation or travel for the entire summer and missing class is inevitable. If this is the case, encourage your child to stay active and practice their Martial Arts during their summer break. We will do everything in our power to get them back in the groove when returning from vacation!
